In Case of Damage #36
I think it means that you stand up for yourself and you fight for yourself. I don't think it is the most important thing. But I wouldnt lie because of it.
Invasion #35
Yes. I think this is the climax because this is the most exiting part it has the most action. It also has the most suspence.
Burning Bridges #34
My mom is smart and always there for me. She helps me whenever i need her weather it is helping me with homework or life shes always got an answer. That is what makes her beautiful.in my academic life my teachers are beautiful. what makes them beautiful is they help you and teach you to be successful in life.
Pretty Minds #33
I would want to become more intelegant and I would want to be stronger.
The Secret #32
The operation changes your genes. it changes all relations to your parents. it changes your appearance to make you look nothing like your family. pretties don't know about genes or what genes really are.
Predict what you think being pretty is.
Being pretty means to be yourself and to have a good self esteem. I guess you have to believe in yourself.
Bravery #31
imagery: "the orchids glowed with pale malevolence in the mooonlight a frozen sea against the dark shore of the forest.
"simile: " without even trying, shed shattered her best friend like a walking poison she killed everything.

Suspcion #30
Have you ever received something that made others jealous as this gift did? Did your gift have a meaning behind it as Tally's had? My grandma gave me a necklace that she wore on her wedding day and it was made of pearls and was very old. She gave it to me right before she died saying she wanted me to wear it to remind me of her. my sister got a handkerchief that she had on her wedding day and really I guess it didn't mean anything special to her but after that visit with her, my sister stole the necklace and said that she deserved it more since she was older.
Hearthrob #29
So she wouldn't get used to their city and make new friends. When she first got there if she would have activated it she wouldn't have that much to hold her back. Now since she waited she has made new friends like David and its hard to decied whether to betray him and ruin his life or stay loyal to all her promises. She should have done it in the begining if she decided to leave.
David #28
I think they ran away so they could reverse the operation for other people. So that anyone could have the choice to become pretty or not. Then they made the Smoke for people who didn't want to have the operation could stay without being caught and forced to be changed into somthing they dont want to be changed into. To have some wierd thing implanted in their brain

The Model #26
Their view of a model is true. They have an awful disease. They are either bulimic or anorexic. That could kill you from not eating enough.

- forehead is to high
- teeth are crooked
Find a picture to represent the smoke looks like.
Bug Eyes #24
-people on the helicopter took tally
-they saved her from the fire that they had started
-they starteed the fire because all of the flowers were from a messed up science project.- the flowers grew so much that it was killing out all the other species so the only way to get them to go aaway was to burn them.
-they dropped her of with her hoverboard on the hill side and she waited there for her friend shay to come pick her up.
Respond to the following Quote:
"...Tally was stuck out here in the wild forever. Ugly for life. Her only way home was to betray her friend."
If tally doesnt call Special Circumstances and turn in Shay and her freinds, she will never get home and she will be an ugly forever.
Firestorm #23
Imagery:
Personification:
simile:"her footsteps ignited with flame as she ran through the blackened flowers, like stabbing a poker into a slumbering fire."
The Side You Despise #22
I think the flying machine was a helicopter and the people in it are Pretties who burn a type of orchid to keep it under control.
The Worst Mistake #21
Ugh. Yes I do every day. I have to clean my room or else I can't walk or do anything in my room. Sometimes I don't feel like doing this blog but I do it so I can get good grades.
Predict what you think will happen next.
That Tally will have to deal with a wild fire and try to save her life.
Spagbol #20
I would take a combo of Easy-Mac and Hamburger Helper. I could just take it and heat it up with my water purifier and fire.
Make a list of things you would miss about your home if you were forced to leave it as Tally was.
- family
- friends
- phone
- tv
- pets
- clothes
- shower

Infiltrator #18
- She met Dr. Cable again
- Dr. Cable asked her about Shay's disappearance
- Dr. Cable showed Shay the 3D image of Shay's special note to Tally
- Dr. Cable gave Tally a heart pendent telling her to activate it when she reaches the smoke
- Tally is going on the mission to find Shay and David
Peris #17
I think he came back just to hear her story about not turning pretty and seeing special circumstances, so he could tell his friends about her. "She turned her puffy eyes to her friend, trying to figure out if he was kidding. "I mean, I already told everyone about you after that fire alarm thing, but they're really dying to meat you now," he continued. "there's even a rumor that special circumstances is involved."

Ugly for Life #16
"Everywhere she went, eyes looked away. But it was the most visible she'd ever felt."
Tally feels even though everyone isn't looking at her she is actually quite visible to everyone in her dorm, and she isn't used to anyone paying attention to her.
Special Circumstances #15
1.The man led her to a hovercar and took her to Special Circumstances
2.A woman came in named Dr. Cable and asked her about Shay and her disapearence.
3.Dr. Cable asked her to help find Shay and her friends that ran away
4.Tally refused to help but then Cable told her that if she didn't help then she would never turn pretty
I think Tally will agree to help find them and bring them back to be turned pretty.
Charectorization of Dr. Cable
- weird
- demanding
- quiet
- hardworker
- mean
- heartless
Operation #14
1.An ugly came up to Tally while she was waiting to be picked up to get her pretty surgery.
2.A middle aged pretty picked her up to get her operation
3.She sat waiting for the doctors in the waiting room
4.After an hour a man came out and told her there was a problem with her surgery
I think that she is in trouble because she knows that Shay ran away from being pretty and the doctors know that she knows.
Last Trick #14
"We don't have to look like everyone else. We've got a choice. We can grow up any way we want."
I think this quote is important now and then because it is good to be unique and an individual instead of being like everyone else.
Fight #13
Two fights were presented in this chapter. Compare and contrast both of them. List their similarities and differences. Why did each fight take place? What was the outcome of each one?
First fight:
silly
a joke
not real
to scare the new uglies at the dorm
funny
real
not a joke
between Tally and Shay
discussed turning pretty
Tally upset
Shay didn't want to turn pretty
Tally did want to turn pretty to be with peris
The first fight took place because the girls only had a few more weeks before turning pretty, so they wanted to play some jokes. The second fight took place because the girls were arguing about becoming pretty, and Shay didn't want to turn pretty, but Tally did.
The outcome of the first fight was funny, and the girls didn't get caught. The outcome of the second fight wasn't good, and the girls didn't talk for a long time.
Waiting for David #12
"That was one thing about being outside the city: It made all that nature stuff they taught in school seem a lot more useful. She rememberd now how rainwater fell on the mountains and soaked into the ground..." The town is fake and everything is man-made.

pg. 64 "On the roller coaster, hoverboarding really was like being a bird."

Rapids #10
It depends on the situation. If it were my birthday i wouldn't want to know what my friends were getting me. If someone was setting me up to kill me or something then I would like to know about that.
Find information about the origin of white water rafting and post it here, along with the website URL.
It is interesting to note that whitewater rafting was one of the earliest forms of transportation. It was not only used for carrying people but also for transferring goods from one place to another. However, it became quite popular as a form of leisure activity in the 1980s.In 1811, the first recorded attempt to navigate the Snake River in Wyoming was planned by the Overland Astorians. While attempting to boat the stretch below Jackson Hole, the river was found to be too treacherous and it came to be called Mad River.?The rubber river raft is believed to have been invented in the early 1840s. It was first made by Lt. John Fremont, who was then serving in the U.S army and Horace H. Day. They invented the rubber raft with the intention of surveying the Rocky Mountains and the Great Plains. Although the raft was invented in the mid-nineteenth century, it was not until the turn of the century that the first ever commercial whitewater trip was undertaken. At first, surplus military rafts were used as boats and it was only much later that inflatable rafts were used.Private companies played a major role in augmenting the rafting business. In 1956, one of the members of the most affluent business families of America, John D. Rockefeller built a resort that introduced one of the first floating trips in the country. However, it only evoked a lukewarm response. Later, in the 1960s and 1970s, exclusive whitewater rafting companies were formed. These include the Becker-Cooke Expeditions, Hatch River Expeditions and Slickrock Adventures.Rafting was first included in the Munich Olympic Games, 1972. Subsequently, it was included in the 1992 Barcelona Games and the 1996 Atlanta Games. In 1996, the Ocoee River in Tennessee Valley played host to the whitewater events of the Summer Olympic Games.http://ezinearticles.com/?History-of-Whitewater-Rafting&id=276992

Pretty Boring #9
The Rusty Ruins are a town that was made in our day and time that was abandoned during our time.
"...there'd been too many people, and everyone was incredibly stupid. And ugly."
This quote describes our time when the Rusty Ruins took place as an active town.
Define peer pressure. Think of a time when it happened to you or someone you know and explain the situation in a paragraph
Peer pressure is when your peers pressure you into doing something you don't want to do. Such as smoking or doing drugs.
Facing the Future #8
"Making ourselves feel ugly is not fun"... "This whole game is just designed to make us hate ourselves."
This quote I think is true about the book and in real life.
"Everyone judged everyone else based on their appearance. People who were taller got better jobs...people killed one another over stuff like having diffrent skin color."
I like this quote because this is what happens in our day and time and they are talking like it was a lifetime ago when all of this happend. This quote is sadly true thought because people do get killed and some people are judged by the things that don't matter.
"It's the only way to make people equal."
I can see how this quote cures the problem of discrimination but it also would take away the person's individuality.
Wipeout #7
Jetsons is the only the thing I could think of. I CAN'T GET THE VIDEO ON!!!!:(((
Why do you think the new pretties don't come back to Uglyville to visit? Describe their physical and mental transformation into a new pretties.
The New Pretties are too busy doing "pretty" things in their little world. They become brainwashed with pretty thoughts and that anything that wasn't pretty they wouldn't associate with it. Not only do their minds change but also their physical apperiance does also. They all look perfect and the same.
Shay #6
Tally ran away from New Pretty Town in a bungee jacket she found at the party building. She landed in the darkness of the gardens. When she set off the bungee jacket it set off fire alarms and hover cars were swarming everywhere. Tally then realized how stuipid her idea to see Peris was. She then noticed a saftey warden in the gardens looking for her. Then heard noise by the river and frose. She saw a dark figure just standing as still as statue. She thought it was a warden so she froze for a long time and eventualy she gave up and started to talk to the figure. It turns out that the figure was a girl named Shay and Tally told her about her adventure. There they became friends.
What have you learned about Shay? Is she like Tally? Make a prediction about what will happen between Tally and Shay.
Shay is a kind person who is like Tally in ways such as having the same birthday and being an uglie. I think they will be good friends.

Best Friends Forever #5
Information of history of bungee jumping and website URL:
Bungee has quite an old origin. The idea of this way of jumping comes from the ancient ritual "Gkol" performed in the Pentecost Island in the Pacific Archipelago of Vanuatu. The legend says that in the village Bunlap a man called Tamalie had a quarrel with his wife and she ran away and climbed a Banyan tree where she wrapped her ankles with liana vines. When Tamalie came up to her, the woman jumped from the tree and so did her husband not knowing what had his wife done. So he died but the woman survived. The men of Bunlap were very impressed by this performance and they began to practise such jumps in case they got in similar situation. This practice transformed into a ritual for rich yam harvest and also for proving manhood.Modern bungee jumping as we know it today actually started on the 1st of April ( Fools' Day ) 1979 when group of people from the Oxford University Dangerous Sport Club, impressed by a film about "vine jumpers", jumped from 245-Clifton Suspension Bridge in Bristol, England. Using nylon braided, rubber shock cord instead of vines, and dressed in their customary top hat and tails, they performed a four man simultaneous jump .The enthysiasts promptly were arrested for this. But at least hit the world press the next day. The new adrenaline mania has been started. The D.S.C. performed many other jumps, including one off the Golden Gate Bridge. In early 1988, A.J. Hackett and Chris Allum, opened the first commercial jump site in Ohakune, New Zealand. Hackett also made a great commercial show in 1987 when he jumped from the Eiffel Tower in Paris.. As part of the site publicity, Hackett performed an astounding bungee jump from the Eiffel Tower! Nowadays there have already been a lot of towers, cranes, bridges and even hot-air balloons serving as platforms for jumping and bungee is the simplest and easily understood of the aerial extreme sports. This site informs you about some of the aerial extreme sports"History of Bungee." Best Friends Forever #4
- Ugly
- Bored
- Lonely
- skinny
Charectorization Peris:
- Pretty
- Greedy
- Brainwashed
How do you feel about the relationship of Tally and Peris? Are they true best friends? Why or Why not?
I don't like the relationship between them because he is brainwashed from the surgery and cares nothing but being pretty. I think at one point, when he was an ugly they were true best friends but now that he has become a pretty I think things have changed. I think this because he has been around all of these new pretty people who are perfect and when he saw Tally he wasn't too exited. He just kind of brushed her off.
New Pretty Town #3
Why do you think Tally chose to wear a mask to the party that was deemed "white tie"? I don't think that she knew that the party was white tie and she wore it to be sure no one would see that she was an ugly.
History of masks:
The history of masks is a fascinating look at human frailty and imagination. Humans have used masks for different reasons throughout time, from blending into scenery to standing out from other people. The main concept behind most masks, with the possible exception of funerary masks, is to hide a person’s identity. Masks have been used for religious purposes, for artistic purposes and just for fun purposes.
History of MasksMasks have been used for thousands and thousands of years in cultures around the world. Early masks were probably made from local materials. Harder-to-find or more precious materials would probably have been used to embellish more important masks in ancient times, as they are now.
Over the centuries, masks became associated with religion. For example, ancient Egyptians considered mummy masks to be an important part of the transition to afterlife. Today, masks made by the Iroquois people are so precious to their beliefs that the Iroquois leadership is requesting the return of face masks from museums and private collections. Traditional Iroquois want to properly care for these masks according to their ancient traditions.
Sometimes, a culture starts to use masks for a specific reason only to have that reason change over time. For example, masks were initially used during carnival to hide people’s identities. Wearing masks allowed people to cross class lines and behave in inappropriate ways without fear of shame. As societies’ morals and cultures have changed, wearing masks has become less necessary for concealing sexual indiscretions. Today, they are just another part of carnival’s atmosphere. This is not to say some naughty things no longer occur behind masks.
Masks have long been featured in entertainment. Masks have been an important part of dances around the world. They have been an essential part of theatre in countries such as China, Japan and Korea for centuries. Mardi Gras masks have been a part of American culture since the 17th century. Masks have also been indispensible in literature, plays, movies and television. You wouldn’t have “The Phantom of the Opera,” “Zorro,” or “the Lone Ranger” without masks.
How does this relate to Tally's decision?
Masks were ment to hide or disguise your face so Tally used hers to disguise her ugly face.
